Marsha L. Williams, MSEd

Hired in December of 2019, Marsha L. Williams came to EVMS from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). After obtaining a BA degree in Speech Communications from Hampton University in 1996, Ms. Williams began her career in Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing. At PCOM, she was initially hired as the Assistant Director of Admissions and later became the Associate Director of Admissions. In her role, she was responsible for diversity recruitment and retention for the college's Osteopathic Medical School and Graduate Programs. In 2010 the college introduced a new Doctor of Pharmacy program at the GA campus, and Ms. Williams became responsible for the admissions process for that program.

In addition to her work in admissions and recruitment, Ms. Williams served as an advisor to many students at PCOM and was recognized by the PCOM Chapter of the Student
National Medical Association as Mentor of the Year in 2006, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2019. In 2015 the National Diversity Council recognized Ms. Williams with the Multicultural Leadership Award. Being cognizant of the need to increase diversity in the health professions, she created the institution's first middle-school pipeline program to ignite an early interest in science and medicine through clinical experiences. She is also credited with developing the first research program for high school and undergraduate students at PCOM. In 2019 she received the Salute to Greatness Award by the Trina Antoinette Adams Center for Keeping Children First, Inc.

She was a member of the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Council of Osteopathic Medical Admissions Officers and served as a leader on their Diversity Task Force in 2017. She is also a member of the National Association of Medical Minority Educators and served as a national board member as Director of the Northeast Region.
