Sebastian Nasrallah MDSebastian Nasrallah, MD 
First Year Fellow
Sebastian graduated from the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  He received his M.D. degree from the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chagoury School of Medicine in Lebanon in 2014.  

Sebastian completed his OB/GYN residency at the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. He was named the Education Chief Resident during his residency and won several awards, including, the Excellence in Teaching Award, the Top Resident Teacher in OB/GYN and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Residency Program Award for Excellence in Obstetrics. 

While in Lebanon he volunteered at the Karageuzian women's clinic in Beirut, providing essential healthcare services to the underserved population there.  Sebastian's interests outside of medicine include basketball, photography and updating our EVMS MFM Fellowship Instagram page.  Sebastian started his MFM Fellowship with EVMS at ODU in August 2025.

Bryar Thompson MDBryar Thompson, DO
First Year Fellow

Bryar graduated from the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.  She received her D.O. degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine - Carolinas Campus.  She completed her OB/GYN residency at the Atrium Health Navicent/Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia.  

Bryar worked on several quality improvement projects during her time in residency and won the Wake Forest OBGYN Young Investigator Award for her research.  She has an interest in medical missions, as highlighted by her time in the Dominican Republic where she helped provide essential medical services to local communities who had limited access to healthcare.  

Bryar's outside interests include watching anything on Bravo, walking along the oceanfront with her dog and fiancé and spending time with friends and family.  Bryar started her MFM Fellowship with EVMS at ODU in August 2025.

Kaitlin Hufstetler, MD
Second Year Fellow

Kaitlin Hufstetler, MDKatie graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 2013 with a Bachelor of Biology. She received her M.D. degree from Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University in Augusta, GA in 2018.

Katie completed her residency in OB/GYN at Wellstar Kennestone Regional Medical Center in June 2022. During residency, she received the Award for Excellence in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery from the American Urogynecologic Society and the Outstanding Minimally Invasive Surgery Resident from the Society of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons. Katie began her MFM fellowship training at EVMS in August 2024.

Katie spent a year at CDC part of the Gilstrap fellowship program on epidemiology research.

John Carl (JC) Rowe, MD
Second Year Fellow

John Rowe MD

J.C. graduated from the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; History. He received his M.D. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA in 2020.

J.C. completed his residency in OB/GYN at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC in June 2024. In residency, J.C. participated in the Teachers of Quality Academy, an AAMC grant-supported initiative developed to train providers in the concepts of quality improvement, patient safety and population health.

J.C. Is following the MFM/Critical Care fellowship path.

Emily E. Nuss, MD
Third Year Fellow

A profile picture of Dr. Emily NussEmily graduated Magna Cum Laude from State University of New York at Binghamton, Binghamton, NY in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology.  She received her MD degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY in 2019.

Emily completed her OB/GYN residency at ChristianaCare Health System in June 2023.  In college, Emily was a four-year starter for Binghamton University’s Division I women’s soccer team. Emily began her MFM fellowship training in August 2023.

Morgan A. Scaglione, MD
Third Year Fellow

A profile picture of Dr. Morgan ScaglioneMorgan graduated from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA in 2014 with a Dual Degree Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and Psychology.  She received a Masters in Business and Commercial Law from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA in 2015.  She received her M.D. degree from our institute in Norfolk, VA in 2019.

Morgan completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Utah Health in Salt Lake City, UT in June 2023.  During her time there, she  created a medical-legal partnership between the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and Regent University School of Law to connect at-risk patients and families in need of affordable legal aid with law school faculty to provide pro-bono work.  Morgan begins her MFM fellowship training in August 2023.
