Fellows will experience patient care and surgical training during their time in this program.

The patient care side will include training in surgical, office and inpatient settings, as well as our Ultrasound Diagnostic Unit & Research Center. For their surgical training, fellows will learn in-office procedures, hysteroscopy, laparoscopic, vaginal and robotic techniques.

Year 1

Main objectives

  • Participate in clinical care to gain fundamental experience, and meet minimal surgical volume requirements.
  • Initiate a research project and have an IRB completed halfway through the first year to ensure completion of a qualified research project at the culmination of their fellowship.
  • Develop knowledge in more than 50% of core curriculum topics as outlined by the FMIGS, including relevant literature review.

Year 2

Main objectives

  • Practice evidenced-based medicine in determining treatment plans for complex gynecologic pathology. Should demonstrate the ability to perform FMIGS core procedures as primary surgeon.
  • Expand MIS knowledge in other specialties including Urogynecology and General Surgery.
  • Complete a research project and prepare the manuscript for submission to a peer reviewed journal.
  • Develop knowledge in 100% of core curriculum topics as outline by FMIGS and have presentation/simulation curriculum basis for educating residents/other trainees upon fellowship completion.
